An SEO-ready WordPress website is built so search engines can crawl, understand and load it quickly from launch. That means a lightweight block theme instead of a heavy builder, clean templates with one H1, structured data generated from real business facts, a planned redirect map, optimized images, accessible markup and a team trained to edit without breaking it.
Block themes versus heavy page builders
WordPress now ships with a block editor and block themes that build layouts from native blocks. Heavy third-party page builders do the same job with their own layers of markup, CSS and JavaScript, loaded on every page. That extra weight is a common reason sites miss Google's Core Web Vitals targets. Our comparison:
| Factor | Lean block theme | Heavy page builder |
|---|---|---|
| Front-end weight | Mostly native WordPress assets | Builder CSS and JS on every page |
| Markup | Shallow, semantic HTML | Deeply nested wrapper elements |
| Editing | Locked patterns your team fills in | Total freedom, including freedom to break layouts |
| Long-term lock-in | Content stays in standard blocks | Content tied to the builder's shortcodes or data |
We build with block themes and a small set of custom patterns, so editors get flexibility where it helps and guardrails where it matters.
Clean templates and on-page structure
Every template is built to the same rules: one H1 per page, logical H2 and H3 order, editable title tags and meta descriptions, self-referencing canonicals, and clean URLs that describe the page. Service pages, location or area pages, blog posts and the contact page each get their own template so structure stays consistent as the site grows. Archive and tag pages that add nothing are kept out of the index, and the XML sitemap lists only pages you want found.
Schema built in, not bolted on
Structured data is generated from one set of business facts stored in the site, so it never drifts from what the page shows. Typical coverage:
- LocalBusiness or a more specific type with name, address or service area, phone with country and area code, geo coordinates to at least 5 decimal places, and opening hours, as Google's LocalBusiness documentation recommends.
- Seasonal hours using
validFromandvalidThrough, useful for Naples businesses that change hours between season and summer. - Organization, Service and BreadcrumbList on the pages where they fit.
We do not add FAQ schema to win rich results, because Google stopped showing FAQ rich results in May 2026. Details on how we write markup live on our schema markup page.
Redirects, images and speed
If you are replacing an existing site, the redirect map is built before design is signed off, following Google's rule to keep redirects generally at least 1 year. Our site migration SEO process handles it end to end. Images are resized on upload, served in modern formats with width and height set, and lazy loaded below the fold but never on the hero. Fonts are limited and self-hosted where licensing allows. Third-party scripts are added only when they earn their weight. We check every template against the Core Web Vitals thresholds before launch, then confirm in field data afterward with our site speed optimization routine.
Security, updates and accessibility
WordPress is safe when it is maintained. We keep plugins to a short, well-supported list, enable automatic minor core updates, set up off-site backups, enforce strong admin logins and limit admin accounts to people who need them. You own the hosting, domain and admin accounts outright.
Accessible markup and good SEO overlap heavily. We use real headings in order, descriptive link text, alt text that describes images, labels on every form field, visible focus states and color contrast checked against WCAG guidelines. A site that works with a keyboard and a screen reader is also a site search engines parse cleanly.
Handoff and editor training
A site is only as good as the edits made after launch. Handoff includes a recorded walkthrough, a short written guide covering how to add a service page, write a title tag, add images and publish a post without breaking structure, and a list of things not to touch. We stay available for questions in the first weeks after launch, and ongoing care is optional.
When WordPress is not the right fit
WordPress is a strong default for content-led service businesses, but not for everything. A business with a large online catalog may be better served by a dedicated ecommerce platform. A business with no one to approve updates may prefer a fully managed hosted builder despite its limits. A small, rarely changed site can work well as a static site. We will say so if your needs point elsewhere, and we can still plan the SEO structure for whichever platform you choose. Start with a free first look at your current site.
